NHA 2012 Advocacy
Day
NHA’s Advocacy Day highlights the 2012
legislative issues impacting Nebraska hospitals and health systems, and
how they deliver quality and affordable care to their communities.
Additionally, Advocacy Day provides health care advocates and leaders
with the opportunity to visit with and educate state senators about how
health care legislation will affect them.
Your participation is important! Having a strong understanding of
legislative issues and how they impact your hospital and community is
critical for health care executives. Your knowledge of the legislative
issues and state health care policy allow you to effectively be a voice
and advocate. We will be the most successful when legislators and
policymakers hear your grassroots stories describing the realities of
health care in Nebraska.
Please plan to join us on Wednesday, Mar. 21, 2012, at The Cornhusker
Marriott in Lincoln for NHA 2012 Advocacy Day.

Hospital
and Physician Alignment: 20 Critical Bylaws Touchstones
February 15, 2012
10:00 am - 11:30 am CT
Overview:
Many physicians are seeking either employment or contractual
relationships with hospitals. Simultaneously, hospitals are
pursuing closer ties with private physicians in order to
better collaborate on clinical product line development
designed to improve both quality of care and service and to
meet community needs as ED on-call coverage. Many sets of
existing medical staff bylaws have not recognized the
changing nature of the hospital physician relationship
and/or do not address critical issues that MSPs, CMOs,
Medical and Senior Management Leaders struggle with while
implementing alignment approaches. This webinar will address
these issues and suggest proven strategies for mid-course
correction.
Target Audience:
CMOs/VPMs, Medical Staff Officers, Medical Staff Bylaws
Committee Members, VP Human Resources and Medical Staff
Professionals.
Faculty:
Albert L. Fritz, MHA - HG Healthcare Consultants, LLC
Objectives:
• Advise and influence medical staff and senior
management leaders on the 20 critical bylaws provisions that
should be considered and addressed when planning and
implementing various alignment strategies and approaches.
• Recognize the key reasons driving and alternative
approaches for responding to the need for greater alignment
between hospitals and physicians.
• Draft bylaws language that is practical in reducing
existing barriers that have traditionally been found in
bylaws.
• State a proven approach and process for designing
alignment language in the bylaws and gaining approval by
both physician and hospital leadership.
